From early April through the end of July, the Johnston Running Club operates a youth track and field club for children ages 6 through 18. All abilities and experience levels are welcome, but everyone should be prepared to work hard and always keep a positive attitude. The season is set up to peak for the state AAU and USATF meets in mid June. All athletes are expected to compete in at least 2 meets during the season.
The track and field club practices three times a week:
- Sundays: 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
- Mondays: 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
- Wednesdays: 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Practice times are subject to change and registrants will be notified of any changes via SportsEngine App.
The track and field club competes in local, regional, and national youth track meets on the weekends. For athletes who qualify, the season culminates in July with regional and national youth meets for USA Track and Field (USATF) and the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).
