From early April through the end of July, the Johnston Running Club operates a youth track and field club for children ages 6-18 that practices three days a week and which competes in local, regional, and national youth track meets on the weekends.
All abilities and experience levels are welcome but everyone should be prepared to work hard and always keep a positive attitude. The season is set up to peak for the state AAU and USATF meets in mid June. The team practices 3 times a week, Sundays (5:00 to 6:30 p.m.), Mondays (6:00 to 7:30 p.m.), and Wednesdays (6:00 to 7:30 p.m.). Practices for the run from early April through late June and, for athletes who qualify, culminates in regional and national youth meets for USA Track and Field (USATF) and the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). The 2018 AAU National Meet will be held at Drake University in Des Moines!
